Representing victorious Bantry at Ireland’s Best-Kept Town Awards 2019 ceremony at Farmleigh House in Dublin on Tuesday were – from left – Clodagh Henehan, Cork County Council; Trish O’Brien, Bantry Tidy Towns; Danny Collins, Deputy County Mayor; Winnie O’Sullivan, chairperson, Bantry Tidy Towns

WINNING the accolade of Ireland’s Best Kept Town is the catalyst for Bantry’s future development. Bantry won the award in June 2020 and not only did Bantry win The Best Kept Small Town, it won the overall award for Best Kept Town too. A remarkable acknowledgement of the beautiful place that Bantry is, how well the town is presented and the fantastic litter-free efforts that happen in Bantry, lead by the local voluntary group, Bantry Tidy Towns.

Ireland’s Best Kept Town is an all-island competition in which some of the best towns in the SuperValu Tidy Towns competition compete against their counterparts in a similar competition in Northern Ireland.
